New camping studio lodge with bathroom is now ready for you!

Located between Eau Claire and Madison, WI, 3 1/2 miles off I-94 on State Hwy. 95 the campground is conveniently located and allows easy access to activities in the surrounding area. We have kamping kabins, both one and two room, and new this year, one camping lodge with a bathroom that sleeps 4. When you stay at the Hixton Alma Center Wisconsin KOA campground you can enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning as you take a peaceful stroll through the campground's meadows and woodlands. Songbirds provide a cheerful serenade as you keep your eyes open for deer, opossums and raccoons. Accented with multihued flowers, the campground includes an ancient Native American site called Silver Mound. The well-stocked fishing pond, heated swimming pool, giant jumping pillow and bike rentals are hits with kids of all ages. Wagon rides and ice cream socials are summer Saturday treats. The pavilion is the perfect location to hold your anniversary parties, family reunions, rallies or meetings.

Staying here at the campground puts you close to many outdoor activities, including boating, fishing, canoeing and kayaking at Lake Arbutus and the Black River. The Trempeleau River offers great trout fishing and is just a mile away. Wazee Lake is the former site of an iron mine and is the deepest lake in Wisconsin, so it is perfect for scuba diving. Hiking, biking and ATV trails, Ho-Chunk Nation powwows, museums, antique stores and flea markets are also popular activities in the area. Campground offers FREE Wi-Fi, cable on all sewer sites and friendly service. Your hosts, Jim and Donna, will make sure your camping needs are taken care of. The campground store is convenient for those forgotten or needed items. RV, tent or cabin campers, this campground offers you the wonderful camping experience families use to build memories. For Jim and Donna Rankin, owners of the Hixton / Alma Center KOA in Wisconsin, the camping world offered the allure of freedom.

Tired of the corporate world, and feeling the desire to be their own boss, Jim and Donna took a road trip in 1987 and stayed at their first KOA. While there, they envisioned the changes they would make to the campground if it were theirs. After returning from their road trip, the Rankin's decided to contact KOA to see if any campgrounds were for sale.

Unsure that they could afford to purchase a campground, Jim and Donna didn't know if their dream was going to become a reality. KOA contacted them about a fixer-upper, and it has been their total life ever since. This year marks the 24th anniversary of their entrance into the campground business.

"The business runs us," says Jim with pride. "And we love it that way."

Avid gardeners, Jim and Donna are especially proud of the campground gardens. They have planted well over 4000 bushes and trees and even more flowering plants. They have had "workampers," to help them the past 10 years, but before that, they handled it alone.

Campers tell them, they return not only because it is a beautiful campground, but that it is so peaceful and the atmosphere's friendly.
